Did You Really Have To Die For Me?

"He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed." 1 Peter 2:24

I remember watching The Passion of the Christ when the movie was first released in theaters and thinking to myself...."Jesus went through all this.....for me?" And at that moment I was completely shattered thinking about the life I live in response to the greatest sacrifice in the history of the world. I was reminded of the cross this morning when I woke up with the song Worlds Apart, by Jars of Clay ringing in my ears.

The lyrics just replaying in my mind:
to love you
take my world apart..
to need you
I am on my knees..
to love you
take my world apart..
to need you
broken on my knees..

When I think about the cross, I mean really think about it, when I reflect on His sacrifice for me - so undeserving. I crumble.

Have you ever been so broken by the work God is doing in your life? Broken to the point that you just want to bow down at His feet - worshiping and praising His name. It's in our brokenness where we're most ready to be transformed by God. Through our brokenness God restores us. Every time we're broken for His sake - we become new.

"Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come." - 2 Corinthians 5:17
